The Choir was honoured to perform at Wigmore Hall for a special Yom Hashoah memorial concert on 28 April 2022 to remember Kitchener Camp, a haven for Jewish refugees in Sandwich, Kent, prior to World War II
Also performing were The string quartet of Rachel Roberts, Matthew Denton, Claudia Ajmone-Marsan and Gemma Rosefield
The account of the camp was narrated by Jon Sopel and Emily Maitlis.
Lord Eric Pickles presented British Holocaust heroes’ medals and there was a candle lighting ceremony.
Special thanks to the Kitchener Camp committee, to Antony Lishak from Learning from the Righteous and the other partner organisations who helped to organise this extremely poignant event and bring the little-known story of the Kitchener Camp to a wider audience.
A recording of the live stream can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5dvJoXwrSs

The Sandford Family Choral Scholarship Fund for Young Singers
The London Cantorial Singers has launched a scholarship fund to give Jewish youngsters, who love singing, the opportunity to experience high quality choral singing and to offer the successful candidates professional voice coaching and music training. Candidates should be between 9 to 14 years old and be living in the Greater London area. For more details click here.
Auditions will be conducted by Alan Freedman, the Musical Director. Please email director@tlcs.org.uk for more information and to apply for an audition.
The Sandford family have generously donated to the Scholarship fund in acknowledgement of the help and encouragement given to their son Rafi, our former young soloist, in bringing on his singing abilities throughout his time in the Choir.
Rafi Sandford says, “I wanted say thank you to the choir that supported me so much and to give back something for the way they helped to develop my singing. We also wanted to help in a small way to assist training future young soloists.”
The Choir has created a JustGiving page to enhance the Scholarship Fund.
Please donate generously towards this worthy cause!
JustGiving sends your donation straight to the London Cantorial Singers and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
